Stiftung

Die Stiftung Vetus Latina wurde 1951 auf Initiative des Verlegers Dr. Dr. h.c. Theophil Herder-Dorneich und des Beuroner Erzabtes Dr. Benedikt Baur ins Leben gerufen. Sitz der Gemeinnützigen Stiftung ist Beuron. Laut Stiftungsurkunde hat die Stiftung die Aufgabe, „die Herausgabe einer vollständigen, den kritischen Anforderungen entsprechenden Sammlung aller erhaltenen Reste der altlateinischen Bibelübersetzungen aus Handschriften und Bibelzitaten bei alten Schriftstellern finanziell zu fördern“.

Die Stiftung dient nach Satzung und tatsächlicher Geschäftsführung ausschließlich und unmittelbar den Zwecken und Anliegen der Allgemeinheit. Die Gemeinnützigkeit der Stiftung ist durch das Finanzamt Reutlingen festgestellt. In diesem Sinn werden daher alle der Stiftung zufließenden Mittel ausschließlich zur Erfüllung dieses Stiftungszweckes verwendet. Die Mittel zur Erfüllung des Stiftungszweckes werden durch Sammlung von Geldern und Spenden aufgebracht. Aus diesem Grund bleibt die Stiftung auf Spenden angewiesen. Spenden an die Stiftung für ihren satzungsmäßigen Zweck sind steuerlich abzugsfähig.

Die Organe der Gemeinnützigen Stiftung Vetus Latina sind der Vorstand sowie das Kuratorium. Sie verfahren auf Grundlage einer Geschäftsordnung. Vorsitzender des Vorstandes ist Manuel Herder. Seit 2018 steht Frau Annette Schavan dem Kuratorium vor. Die Stiftung dankt für alle finanzielle Hilfe, die sie erfährt, und erbittet weiterhin Mittel, die zur Fortführung der Forschungen des Instituts unentbehrlich sind.

The Vetus Latina Foundation was created in 1951 on the initiative of the publisher Dr. Dr. h.c. Theophil Herder-Dorneich and the Archabbot of Beuron Benedikt Bauer. The charitable foundation is based in Beuron. According to its founding charter, the mission of the Foundation is "to provide financial sponsorship for the publication of a complete and critical edition involving the collection of all surviving remnants of the Old Latin Bible translations from manuscripts and scriptural citations in ancient authors".

In keeping with its statutes and management, the Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation. Its charitable status is assured by the Reutlingen Finance Office. This means that all the resources of the Foundation are used exclusively for its charitable purposes. These resources come from fundraising and donations. For this reason, the Foundation remains dependent on donations. Donations to the Foundation for its charitable activity are tax-deductible (in Germany, at any rate).

The governing bodies of the Vetus Latina Charitable Foundation are the executive committee and the administrative council. Their functions are set out by statute. The chairman of the executive committee is Manuel Herder. Annette Schavan has presided over the administrative council since 2018. The Foundation is grateful to all who provide financial assistance, and seeks further resources which are indispensable in order to continue the activities of the Vetus Latina Institute.

La Fondation Vetus Latina fut créée en 1951 à l'initiative de l'éditeur Theophil Herder-Dorneich et de l'archiabbé de Beuron Benedikt Bauer. Son siège se situe à Beuron. Selon sa charte de fondation, la Fondation a pour mission de «soutenir financièrement l'édition d'un recueil exhaustif de tous les restes des anciennes versions latines de la Bible conservés dans les manuscrits et les citations, d'une manière satisfaisant aux exigences de la critique scientifique». La Fondation, dans son organisation et sa gestion, n'a pas d'autre but et d'objectif que celui de l'intérêt général. Son caractère d'utilité publique a été reconnu par l'office des Finances de Reutlingen. Ceci implique que tous les moyens dont elle dispose servent exclusivement à la réalisation de son objet social. Ces moyens proviennent de subsides et de dons. La Fondation reste donc largement tributaires de dons. En Allemagne, ceux-ci sont exonérés d'impôt dans le chef des donataires. Les organes de la Fondation Vetus Latina sont le Comité de direction et le conseil d'administration. Le fonctionnement en est régi par un règlement d'ordre intérieur. Le Comité de direction est présidé par Manuel Herder. Annette Schavan préside le conseil d'administration depuis 2018. La Fondation est reconnaissante à tous ceux qui lui fournissent les moyens nécessaires son activité et souhaite pouvoir continuer, avec leur aide, à financer la poursuite des recherches du Vetus Latina Institut.
